Fáilte go PDA na hÉireann

Welcome to the Irish Chapter of PDA

The Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) www.pda.org is the leading global provider of science, technology and regulatory information and education for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical community. PDA was founded in 1946 as a non-profit organisation. PDA develops scientifically sound, practical technical information and resources to advance science and regulation through the expertise of its members.

The Irish Chapter was founded in 2006 and currently has over 130 members. Since 2006 the Irish Chapter has brought together committed professionals from industry, regulatory authorities and academia for scientific discussions and courses. These have covered topics such as emerging trends, new technologies in research/development and manufacturing excellence.

As a not-for-profit organisation, success depends on the willingness of volunteers. To that end, the Irish Chapter has been served by very diligent and hard working committee members who have planned and delivered some excellent programmes over the past number of years. Details of these programmes and our upcoming events can be found in the attached links on this home page.

Many opportunities exist to allow you to contribute to the PDA community and the details can be found on the websites. These include:

• Joining your chapter committee
• Writing an article for our journal (PDA Journal of Pharmaceutical Science & Technology)
• Speaking at an event
• Becoming a member of an interest group, task force or advisory board
• Attending some of our events

I urge you to get involved in some PDA activities as it is a deeply rewarding experience where you will meet colleagues with very similar interests to your own. Being a PDA member/volunteer confers some distinct advantages:

• Building a network with people (industry, regulators, vendors) who can help you solve your problems
• Avoiding mistakes and getting practical information
• Meeting people with a broad range of experiences
• Getting updates on current issues and developments

Le meas, Colman Casey, President PDA Ireland
